Upping sticks and moving elsewhere is a huge decision and not one to be entered into lightly or rushed… and, as with any big decision, you should do as much research as you can into the place you plan to move to so as to avoid any nasty surprises later down the line.
If you’re thinking of heading north, what about using estate agents in Hull to help you find the right property for you? Hull is actually the City of Culture this year and you only have to be here for a few minutes to see why it’s been granted such an honour as this.
The UK City of Culture designation, part of a scheme run by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, is one given to a particular city for the period of one year. Hull was picked unanimously by the panel because – according to chair and TV producer Phil Redmond – it gave “the most compelling case based on its theme as a ‘city coming out of the shadows’”.
In January, we started our year off with a stunning fireworks display over the River Humber, as well as sound and light installations known as Made in Hull.
And since then, we’ve gone from strength to strength where our cultural offerings are concerned and the year certainly isn’t over yet! For example, on August 26th we’re taking you all back to the 1970s to show how the city has changed in the last few years. There’s going to be a 70s-inspired fashion how, vintage fashion stalls, bands playing retro tunes and re-enactments of vintage games.
And until September 17th, you can enjoy BLEACHED by Tania Kovats, an exhibition of sculptures and drawings related to ocean life and the environment… sure to be worth a look!
These are just a few of the events going on between now and the end of the year, but if you’re looking for a truly cultural place to move to Hull would certainly be an excellent choice for you and your family.
